Flooring Questions We Hear Every Day

These come up constantly in our showroom. Here's the honest version.

What's the difference between LVP and laminate?

LVP (luxury vinyl plank) has a waterproof PVC core — it handles spills and Florida humidity without swelling. Laminate has a wood-fiber core that absorbs moisture if it gets wet, which means it's not ideal for bathrooms, laundry rooms, or anywhere with a real risk of standing water. For most Florida rooms, LVP is the safer call. Laminate can make sense in a dry bedroom or closet where you want the look without the cost of hardwood. Full comparison here →

Can you put LVP in a Florida bathroom?

Yes — LVP is one of the better bathroom flooring choices in Florida. The key is the installation: proper transitions at the door, no gaps where water can seep under the planks, and silicone at tub or shower edges. A high-quality rigid-core LVP installed correctly handles a wet bathroom floor without issue. More detail on LVP in Florida bathrooms →

Is hardwood flooring okay in Florida?

Engineered hardwood is, in the right rooms. Solid hardwood in Florida requires careful acclimation, expansion gaps, and a consistently climate-controlled space — it will move seasonally with humidity changes. Engineered hardwood has a more stable plywood core and handles Florida conditions better than solid. Neither belongs in a bathroom, laundry room, or any space without A/C. How much does flooring installation cost in Pasco County?

It varies by material, room conditions, and subfloor. We don't post prices on the website because a square-foot number without seeing your subfloor is meaningless — subfloor conditions alone can shift a job significantly. What we do offer is a free in-home measurement and written estimate with no commitment. See ballpark ranges by material →

What flooring holds up best with pets and kids?

Porcelain tile is the most durable option by far — nearly impossible to scratch or stain. For those who want a warmer feel, a rigid-core LVP with a 12-mil wear layer or higher handles dog nails and dropped things well. We'd steer you away from laminate in high-traffic pet areas because moisture from water bowls or accidents will eventually cause it to swell. Come in and we'll show you specific products that have held up well in our customers' homes.
